Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) to Provide 500 Million Yen to Mauritius in Accident Relief Measures

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has set up a second fund in Japan to help with the massive fuel oil spill off the Indian Ocean island nation of Mauritius in the summer of 2020 caused by a large cargo ship chartered by the company. About 500 million yen will be contributed to the fund to provide long-term support for the protection of the country's natural environment and the development of fisheries and tourism. The first step is to solicit grant recipients from December 1 to February 14, 2022, and select them by March. It will be called the "Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) Mauritius Fund for Restoration and Conservation of the Natural Environment and International Cooperation," and will be used to protect mangroves and restore coral reefs.
