According to the preliminary report on port statistics released by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the number of containers of foreign trade cargo at six major ports (Tokyo, Kawasaki, Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka and Kobe) in April declined for the first time in three months to 1,202,717 TEUs (down 2.2% year-on-year). This includes 595,260 TEUs (-2.6%) for exports and 607,457 TEUs (-1.8%) for imports. By port, the Port of Yokohama (+4.9%) and the Port of Nagoya (+6.8%) saw an increase, while the other four ports saw a decrease.
